The periodic table essay was discovered only in the nineteenth century, but many civilizations like the Greeks knew of the existence of elements in the form of tin, copper, and gold. At first, 50 elements were discovered. Scientists noticed a pattern emerging which distinguished one element from another. Basically, the table is a visual interpretation of the periodic law which established that certain properties of elements repeated periodically when arranged by their atomic number. Born on Feb. 18, 1809, Charles Darwin was a genius who came up with the evolutionary theory that life on earth develops through natural selection. He was born in England, and graduated from an elite school at Shrewsbury in 1825. His short stint at studying medicine at the University of Edinburgh ended in 1827 when he dropped out. He then opted to join the clergy. To fulfill his calling to join the Church of England, he joined the University of Cambridge. His life changed forever. An essay on his life as a student would make interesting reading.

A Harvard essay format is based on the Harvard style of writing, a generic form that uses the author/date style of writing within the text and a reference list or bibliography at the end of the essay. The Harvard style is also the APA style, but there is a major difference. It does not have a manual, and there are various versions available that could be followed. A common version is the Australian style manual (AGPS style), which has undergone revisions. APA format essays can be written effectively, if established methods are followed. The American Psychological Association (APA) format is used across the world by many colleges and universities. It is quite popular when it comes to scientific writing. Essays, term papers, research papers, and white papers are written in this format by students at all levels including those involved in undergraduate and postgraduate study programs. It does take a while before one can get used to this style of essay writing. Formatting is very systematic and would include standard methods. One would have to learn how a format has to be established, how citations are written within the text, and methods involved in forming a bibliography.
1. The essay’s structure has to include a title page with the names of the writer and guide, an abstract, the main body, and references made. The abstract should focus on the thesis statement, offer a brief summary of the support information, and would indicate how the essay would be concluded. It should not exceed more than 150 words.
2. General formats that are regularly used include double spacing and a 1-inch margin on all four sides. The page header appears on the right upper corner of the page with the first three words of the title. The font used is the 12-point Times New Roman.
3. The main body of the essay would include the introduction, the support statements focused on the thesis statement, and the conclusion. The introduction should be a complete paragraph with the thesis statement.
4. APA format essays use citations within the text to identify the source of reference. In-text citations are highlighted by enclosing them within parenthesis with the author’s name and publication date. This is to identify the source from where it is taken. For example, a citation would appear like (Author’s First Name, Initials, Year Of Publication). It is important to note that citations are made within a sentence. It should not be out of place or make a sentence appear illogical. Quotations and phrases are also referenced in the same manner. Referring to an APA style essay would help in better understanding.
5. Plagiarism is a major problem in the world of writing. One cannot just copy and paste work done by others into an assignment. This would amount to plagiarism. The quotes and references made have to be acknowledged. There are many who knowingly or unknowingly quote without giving credit to the source. It is allowed to use the exact text as per the source, but the bibliography and the in-text reference should point towards it. If it is an online source, show the link or URL. Reference to a book can be identified by its name, author, and page number(s).
