A View from the Bridge essay can be based on the gripping narrative the author, Arthur Miller, heard from a lawyer friend was back in the 1940s. The play is based on a true story about a Brooklyn dockworker. When he decided to write the screenplay, the original one was not accepted by a Hollywood studio. Called “The Hook,” the basic theme nonetheless was used to make the movie “On The Waterfront.” Since Miller has actually worked at the docks, he could identify with the story and felt compelled to narrate it to an audience. When he does give into his dark side, he finds very few people willing to accept his justification.
