An essay plan would cover the very same principles but in a broad sense. Your plan would have several arguments and justifications scattered throughout the essay. These would be interlinked and directly linked to the thesis statement or the main topic. If your plan is in place, your essays structure or essay outline would be very easy to compile.

Lastly, the essay format should also account for how long the essay would have to be in terms of the word count. You should have some guideline as to how much research would be required to complete an essay of say 500 words. This comes with practice, but if you have a structure in place, you can always fine tune the essay structure and write much faster and with less effort the next time you attempt an essay.
