Writing A Compelling Human Right Essay
A human rights essay would necessarily talk about the human rights concept that has been in existence throughout human history. Many countries have framed laws that govern how human rights should be upheld. It became necessary when the powerful started exploiting the weak as a matter of right. Countries with large population rates have always had to cope up with disparity in the living standards of its people. Customs, religious beliefs, individual freedom, and opportunism have been associated with the human rights issue. Legal systems drafted in the past have been revised over a period time. Since the sensitive issue relates to individuals who become part of society, each country has had to think long and hard before coming up with legislation that would be accepted by its people.
Protection of human rights is an important issue worldwide. The most fundamental right is of right to live. With the amount of strife and danger looming around people across the globe, governments have made amendments in laws to protect people. A society that respects an individual’s need to live freely without fear or discrimination would also acknowledge that social justice and mutual respect for each other go hand in hand with definite laws that protect these rights. For example, in a democratic setup, individuals would have the right to speak freely on the issue of capital punishment. The various debates and human rights essays on the issue have forced the judicial system to do away with it, except in isolated cases where there is no hope for correcting an offender.
Civil society needs to provide the same rights to all its members. Women and children need to be protected more as they are prone to physical assaults. Sexual and domestic violence has been in existence for a long time behind closed doors. It was left to some bold individuals to come forward and highlight incidents that led to uproar and stirred the judiciary into action. For a long time, it was believed that women are the weaker sex and need to be exploited. Not only was this totally untrue, but even male-dominated societies have had to accept that protecting their women also meant giving them the same rights of liberty, education, and freedom of thought. Though we do hear of atrocities against women being committed, the press and world opinion has ensured that such issues are not hidden under the carpet.
Densely-populated developing countries have had to amend their laws to literally ban child labor. Poverty is a major issue in such countries. Children sometimes become a burden on families, who give up on them. The children are left to fend for themselves. This is a situation which has allowed opportunistic people to exploit them for cheap labor. Though laws have been enforced, helpless children have to find work or literally die of starvation. A poverty essay can highlight the plight of these children. It would take some time before we can safely say that all children are provided their civil rights. A human rights essay could help in highlighting such important issues that may lead to further action being taken to resolve them.
