How To Decide On A Reflective Essay Topic

A reflective essay topic is based on an event or experience of the past. We have all experienced such feelings. A pleasant experience can be shared with a family member. It is much easier to remember and describe. However, an embarrassing situation that we would like to forget keeps coming back to us and reminds us of our fate whenever we get into a similar predicament. Situations keep arising in our lives, but it does not mean an essay has to be based on such events. A reflective essay can be written on varied topics such as an earlier-read book, an experience in the life of others, or experiences shared with others such as a holiday, picnic, or even a movie. The essence of the topic has to strike a chord with readers. An interesting episode should solve a problem that readers may have. It could provide a solution for a business studies coursework problem through an essay on a similar topic. It can evoke emotions in them by making them laugh or cry. Either way, the essay should be able to get through to them

Some Topics To Consider

Reflective essay topics should answer questions or can be derived from prompts. Brainstorming is required to arrive at the topic, which invariably has to be connected with the writer. Some prompts and corresponding topics derived from them are listed below.

1. Compile an essay on a choice you have made for your statistics coursework which turned out to be a failure in the eyes of assessors but had a positive effect on you.
To tackle the situation, students would have to identify particular aspects of an issue and highlight it in the introduction. For example, the focus could be on a failed technique used to compile coursework. The positive aspect would be reflected through the essay in the form of a revised technique which did work.

2. Compile a GCSE English coursework on a learning experience you have had in the past and how it impacted your life for the better.
The topic is quite clear. Since it has to be a personal experience, students need to think of situations where a particular viewpoint had to be validated through research. They may have come across content that substantiated their claim. Unrelated material could have been discovered, which may not have been used in the project but could have changed the way students approached the subject.

3. Choose a reflective essay topic based on the influence a significant person has had on your life. The note has to be on a definite moment involving the person that greatly influenced you.
The topic can be tricky, and some students may argue they cannot recollect such an event. An easy solution is to remember a situation that affected the whole class or group to perform better. The idea can always be elaborated upon. It is not necessary to provide evidence of such an event as long as it is convincing.
