Highlighting Events Through A World War 1 Essay

A World War 1 essay can focus on the effects of colonization and alliances that led to major powers coming together to fight a war triggered by the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria by the nationalist Gavrilo Princip from the Kingdom of Serbia. The war started in 1914 and went on till 1922. It led to the deaths of around 15 million people, as many Europe countries were involved due to alliances forged between them through several decades.

There were many imperials armies that forged alliances. By the end of the war, German, Ottoman, Russian, and Austro-Hungarian forces were dismantled and lost political initiative in their respective countries. The Austro-Hungarian and Ottoman dynasties just faded away and ended. Great Britain formed an alliance with France and Russia called the “Triple Entente” that engulfed other countries across Europe and forced them to take sides. The United States also entered the war at a later stage when Germany was accused of breaching shipping protocol.

The “Central Powers” consisted of imperialistic countries like Germany, Hungary, Hungary, and Turkey. They came together to forge an alliance for defensive purposes. A World War 1 essay could reflect on how the war could have been avoided if the alliance was not formed then. To counter it, the “Triple Entente” was formed, which further implicated other countries to take sides. The war forced more than 60 million Europeans to be engaged in war. Within weeks, the major powers had declared war against each other. The United Kingdom fought from 1914 – 1918 to ensure that the “Central Powers” were not able to maneuver and take European power into their hands. A critical essay could expand on the effectiveness of the United Kingdom army that reorganized its forces. People were forced to join the army. The country united breaking all barriers set by the class system to form effective defense systems including the Royal Air Force.

The Royal Family has a big role to play in stirring up patriotism among the people. They broke ties with their German relatives and their home was renamed House of Windsor. The head of the house was George V at the time. He has to make major decisions to protect the country’s interests in colonies under British rule. Many interests were interlinked with each other. The now called Commonwealth countries contributed greatly to the wealth of several other countries. War ended several levels of cooperation that existed between the colonies. In between breaking off ties with Germany, the King’s cousins in Russia were in danger. Plans to rescue them failed. A death essay could project more effectively how more than 850,000 soldiers lost their lives.

The UK had limited armed forces, but most of the armed personnel were posted outside to guard colonial interests. The country was forced to resort to conscription which was introduced in 1916. The British Expeditionary Force (BED) was formed to join forces in France, and it was a major contribution in terms of personnel during the war. The World War 1 essay should be able to highlight how motivation drove those soldiers to war. The BED was able to expand into five armies before World War 1 ended.
